![]() I have yet to see any problem, however complicated, which, when looked at in the right way, did not become still more complicated.Using a computer as a person with eyesight difficulties is not a problem anymore thanks to tools just as NVDA. Windows 10 hit the streets in July 2015, which is now over 9 years ago. ![]() There will not be any discussion of Windows 7 here per group rules." I should have been able to say it some years ago. ![]() Personally, I cannot wait for the day where I can say, on this group, "Windows 7 is out of support and so is NVDA support for it. Yes, and that's been stated on this group, I seem to recall, in response to my question, "When in the hell is NVDA going to stop supporting Windows 7 so that we can move on to bigger and better things, in many ways?" The backward compatibility with Windows 7, which has been officially out of support for years now, is like an anchor that's keeping NVDA from moving in certain ways it could and, it seems, it wants to. I do plan to update one add-on to use updated compatibility flag in a future release (the other add-on will not come with compatibility updates as it is close to end of life) more on that later this month. ![]() Normally NV Access updates backwards compatibility flag closer to beta 1 release, but this time, it was updated early in the development cycle since a change in alpha already broke several add-ons relying on a specific component marked as deprecated this year (and this change will cause errors if these add-ons were enabled with compatibility override because that deprecated component (now removed in alpha release) can cause NVDA to not function correctly or may appear to cause crashes at startup when in fact it is add-ons not updated at the moment causing errors). ![]() NVDA 2024.1 will require a longer development cycle for various reasons, among which is upgrading to a more recent Python release. Based on discussions on GitHub: NVDA 2023.3 mostly focuses on refining features and changes included in 2023.2, and as such, development cycle is shorter. ![]()
